FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

UV-C Light questions

UV radiation works by emitting a wavelength that falls between 200 and 280 nanometers. When the UVC light is shined on bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens, it deactivates their DNA as well as destroying their ability to multiply and ultimately killing them.

Like all disinfection systems, UVC devices must be used properly to be safe. As mentioned, they all produce varying amounts of UVC light in wavelengths of 200-280 nanometres. This light is much stronger than normal sunlight and can cause sun burns and eye damage if exposed incorrectly. With all UVC equipment general machine-human safety needs to be considered. These considerations should be addressed in the operations manual, the user training, and appropriate safety compliance.

The Effectiveness of UV sanitation can vary based on a few factors, including the length of exposure to bacteria, intensity of the radiation and a microorganism’s resistance to said radiation. The best method to face some of these variables is delivering multiple passes of exposure. Exposing the subject, you would like to sanitize multiple times will ensure that the bacteria with a bit more resistance will also have their DNA deactivated.

Short answer, no. The light only disinfects what it encounters. The light must be visible to all levels of a surface to fully disinfect.

Long term exposure to materials like plastic and rubber will shorten the life of the product by 10%. As an example, a product that typically has a ten-year life span will have a nine-year life span if disinfected regularly with UV-C light.

Fogging sanitization questions

Fogging electronic equipment is safe if the machinery is turned off and you do not stray at a close range. It is suggested to stand 2-4 feet from the surface you want to disinfect when spraying your fogger.

We have 2 fogging agents available; both are salt based. The salt will leave a small residue over time. If you are worried about the residue, you can wipe away the solution with water after ten minutes of application.

Both agents we offer are safe and do not require any protective gear when handling. They are 100% biodegradable and cause no harm to the environment.

It is suggested to leave the agent on the surface for ten minutes after fogging to ensure 99.99% of bacteria and viruses are eliminated. If you are worried about a residue, or do not want the agent sitting for longer than 10 mins you can simply wipe it away after the 10 minutes with a damp cloth.

We have both fogging agents readily available as well as 2 different fogger options ‒ please see our website for more details, or you can email us at [email protected]
